Compassion is the Key to Happiness

Compassion quote“If you want others to be happy, practise compassion. If you want to be happy, practise compassion.”

∼Dalai Lama

H.H. the Dalai Lama has said that the best way to educate our children, care for the Earth, and care for others is with a compassionate heart.

He recommends this simple practice to increase love and compassion in the world.

  1. Spend 5 minutes at the beginning of each day remembering that we all want to be fulfilled and that we are all connected to one another.
  2. Spend 5 minutes breathing in and cherishing yourself; then breathing out and cherishing others, including the people who you have difficulty cherishing.
  3. Throughout the day practise cherishing everyone that you come in contact with.
  4. Continue this practice no matter what happens or what anyone does to you.

This nourishing and uplifting act allows you to appreciate and strengthen the tender love that already exists in your heart.

As always with affection,

  1. A good meditation to remember at the start of another day working with people in late stage dementia. We are all trying to live the best life we can! Thank you for sharing these reminders of how we can achieve that. X
