One Simple Mind Shift to Increase Your Happiness

Be happy now

This video is about the cause of most of our frustrations, the gap.

The gap is the distance between where you are now and where you want to be in the future. It’s about postponing your happiness until you get a new car or a new job. It’s waiting to celebrate until you reach your goals and become the person that you want to be.

The problem is that you will never get to that happy place you are waiting for. In the future, you will have other goals and the cycle of postponing your happiness will continue.

The solution is one simple mind shift that will increase your happiness. It comes from the coach, Dan Sullivan, who recommends paying attention to the reverse gap. This means shifting your focus onto where you have come from instead of where you would like to be.

Where were you a few years ago? What was your life like? What kind of progress have you made? Make a list and celebrate how far you have come! Be grateful for every success, no matter how small!

Regularly focusing on the reverse gap will allow you to get into a state of flow and to appreciate where you are here and now, which is the only place where happiness can truly exist.
